Art of Language is a thoughtfully designed program that nurtures children's love of reading, writing, and language. Rooted in Charlotte Mason, Montessori, Classical, and project-based learning principles, it invites students into rich literary experiences where stories, poetry, and ideas spark curiosity and thoughtful conversation. Rather than treating subjects in isolation, Art of Language encourages connected learning; using literature and language as gateways to explore history, science, and the wider world.
Deep, literature-rich studies that weave writing, thoughtful discussion, history, and science into a connected exploration of ideas.
Each unit grows from a beloved story and invites students to explore its ideas through narration, writing, hands-on projects, and carefully chosen picture books.
Living Literature Studies are story-led learning at its finest, creating an anchoring learning experience where families explore ideas, language, and the wider world together.
A gentle rhythm for enjoying great poetry.
Through listening, copywork, observation, and memorization, students develop habits of attention while building a natural ear for language, sound, and imagery.
This short daily practice invites students to notice, enjoy and carry beautiful words with them as they build the foundational habits that support a lifelong journey of learning.
Living Literature Studies are the heart of the Art of Language program. Each 12-week unit is anchored in a beloved story, inviting students to explore its themes, characters, and ideas through narration, writing, hands-on projects, and carefully chosen picture books. Lessons are designed for meaningful family-style engagement, helping children develop observation, creativity, and a natural understanding of language, all while fostering a love of reading and ideas.
My daughter keeps playing the story even after school. It's so fun to see.
- Parent of a second-grader
At first, I was a little overwhelmed by the printables and material prep, but once I followed the advice to prep once a week, it felt doable. Plus (and it's a big plus), a lot of the manipulatives are repeatedly used. The science ones, like the ones for caves, I've actually set out just to explore on days I wasn't going to be able to do full lessons.
- Parent of first and third-graders
I'm actually a little surprised at how easy this makes it to work with all my kids. They're all doing the same activity or project, but it's set up so they can be challenged at their level.

Dive into J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit with this Living Literature Study and nurture a love of learning through the exploration of story, language, middle-ages, and an intoduction to lanforms, geology, and more.
This short, daily rhythm invites students to slow down, listen, and connect with language. Each week, a single poem guides students through listening, copywork, observation, and creative exploration. With a focus on habit-building and language exposure, Practice of Poetry nurtures attention, reflection, and a lifelong love of words — all in just a few minutes each day.
This has been such a simple and easy start to our days. I love the connection of poetry to nature observing/journaling.
- Homeschool mom
We didn't even get through the first journal before my kids started wanting to write their own poems.
- Parent of second and third-graders
I love how uncomplicated this starts kids off with poetry. I feel overwhelmed thinking about trying to figure out how to teach poetry. With these, it's helped me back up and start from where it matters, actually noticing and enjoying poems!

With poetry by Robert Louis Stevenson, William Wordsworth, Christina Rossetti, and Emily Dickinson build your student's habit in attention, memory, and prompt beginnings. Students internalize beautiful language through copywork, memory practice, and connected nature observation.
Art of Language is created by homeschoolers, for homeschoolers. Whether you’re guiding one child or a handful, these programs are built to give each learner a meaningful place at the table.
Each course is thoughtfully designed to provide clear guidance and structure while still allowing for the natural ebb and flow of family life.
This approach works across ages and skill levels. Siblings can participate together, each at their own level, and parents can nurture observation, reflection, and creativity without losing flexibility. From story-led literature studies to short daily poetry practices, Art of Language encourages curiosity and connection across language, history, science, and the arts.
As a family style literature study program, current units are most suited for grades 1–3, with built-in adaptations and scaffolding ideas included for multi-age teaching.
